Let’s Share Our Best Practices for Living with Food Allergies

I’m so excited to start a new blog series for the parents of food allergic children on best practices for living with food allergies. My hope is that we can get a dialog going and teach each other. I’ll introduce the topic, and share my thoughts. If you like what I’ve said, let me know! If you disagree with what I’ve said, let me know that, too! Please be polite and respectful if you choose to post.

When your child has food allergies, there is so much to consider, so much to discuss, (so much potential for anxiety!), and so much to learn from other parents. There are lots of great forums out there for the parents of food allergic children and many opportunities to share our war stories.

And so I have a request: If you choose to post on this blog, please stick to the topic at hand.

Share your experiences about what’s worked for you. Ask questions related to the topic. But please don’t vent about the difficulty of having a food allergic child. We all know it is difficult to have a food allergic child. Yes, it’s hard. Yes, your life has changed. No doubt, your parenting experience might not be turning out to be exactly what you had in mind. Yet, here we are – desperately trying to manage the complexities of parenting a food allergic child.

So, if you want to vent and complain, you’re entitled to do that. Just please do it elsewhere.

But if you want to get on with living as normal a life as possible while managing the health, safety and happiness of your food allergic child, then join in the discussion … and know that you’re not alone.
